AEGEAN BLUE HOUSES / Our story
One island. Three generations.
On Mount Profitis Ilias in Milos, Artemis and Aphrodite stand with their three children. They are back on the island for a visit. The little girl on the left, Anezina, will become our mother.

The years in Athens
Artemis was sixteen when he left for Athens. The occupation was over. He had grown up on Milos with nine brothers and sisters; he was leaving to work and help support his family.
He began as a builder. In time, he became a major contractor, taking charge of the kind of buildings he had once worked on himself. He learned his trade there, on the building sites, long before that knowledge was needed for our own houses.
In Athens he met Aphrodite. Their family began there: Anezina, Giorgos, Leokratis. Their life was now in the city. From time to time, they returned to Milos with the children.

The first house
In the old photograph, the field is still unbuilt: grass, stone and the sea in the distance.
This became the site of our family home when we, his grandchildren, were born. By then, Artemis had spent many years in construction. He brought that experience back to Milos and helped our father build the houses.
We lived on this same plot of land. Later came the first rooms for guests, followed by more houses. The place took its present form gradually, through the work of our grandfather and our parents.

The houses today
Anezina, the girl in the photograph, went on to have three sons. We are the ones who welcome you today to Aegean Blue Houses, to the homes our grandfather and father built.
Between the unbuilt field and the houses you see today lies the work of two generations. Their care now rests with ours.
